Video: WEINTEK cMT3090 HMI supports remote access and control

In a recent video by Lee Teschler, we had the opportunity to run the Weintek USA cMT3090 man-machine interface. The HMI extends accessibility beyond typical products because it supports remote access via smartphone or tablet applications.

Until recently, machine monitoring and control usually took place near the machine itself. Weintek's cMT3090 HMI has changed this situation by providing remote access in a variety of ways. cMT3090 HMI runs as a traditional HMI, and its dual-core CPU greatly improves the performance of data and graphics processing. In addition, it can also be used as a server, allowing remote access from anywhere. Remote access can be through the cMT viewer application or EasyAccess 2.0 like instant messaging, OPC-UA, and through the machine-to-machine connection protocol MQTT.

Convenient remote access saves time and allows access to large amounts of previously unused data. With the functions of traditional HMI, adding a built-in cMT server allows cMT3090 to act as a gateway between the factory floor and the outside world. In addition, the built-in EasyAccess 2.0 option can provide a secure VPN connection and encrypted data transmission between a remote PC (or a handheld device or tablet connected to a router) and the cMT3090. Visit the EasyAccess 2.0 software page at weintek.com/globalw/Software/EasyAccess.

The ability to act as a server allows the cMT3090 to provide engineers with universal access to controls. It supports more than 300 controller drivers and IIoT protocols such as MQTT and OPC UA, and due to compatibility with SQL database commands, it can be connected to third-party devices and management systems.

Remote access via EasyAccess 2.0 or the cMT Viewer application on a handheld device connected to the router can provide remote control and monitoring functions. The cMT3090 HMI includes an ultra-high-speed 1 GHz dual-core CPU, 4 GB flash memory, 1 GB RAM, and a 9.7 inches. 1024×768 high resolution display and dual Ethernet ports. The cMT series also includes 15 inches. cMT3151, 10.1 inches. cMT3103 and 7 inches. cMT3072. For more information, please visit the cMT HMI product page.

Accessing information on HMI is an important part of today's workspace. This information—whether it's processing data, machine monitoring, or actual machine control—has only recently become capabilities limited to the local vicinity of the machine. With the introduction of the cMT3090 HMI, Weintek now offers the opportunity to expand this access generally.
