Beijing (Gasgoo)- China’s leading automotive interiors supplier, Yanfeng Automotive Interiors (YFAI), introduced its industry-first camera under panel (CUP) onboard smart screen, co-developed with TCL subsidiary TCL CSOT. 

YFAI predicted that onboard cameras will be in great demand in the following years, given that such functions as driver monitoring systems are expected to increase application for new vehicles in 2022.

The company’s innovative CUP smart screen realizes integrated functions of camera monitors, including driver safety assistance, HMI, emotion/movement recognition all in one. 

The screen also consists of an industry-first auto-grade camera under a digital LCD panel, an integrated driver status sensing solution under the panel, a 16.14-inch blackened blind hole panel. The screen is equipped with auto-grade infrared cameras, as small as 5mm a piece.

YFAI pointed out that the screen is powered by the DMS algorithm, which can be integrated into domain controllers and is customizable.

In addition, the other co-developer of the screen, TCL CSOT, is a well-established company committed to innovation in semiconductor display. By virtue of both parties, the partners managed to break through the technical limitations, advancing the development of CUP technology.

However, YFAI added, it requires time and iteration to perfect the fairly young technology. The partners are still confident in the real-life application of the said technology in the future.
